SWINE FLU INFORMATION

Here are some quick tips to help you and your family with the Swine Flu.

- Wash your hands often

- Drink plenty of fluids during the day.

- Avoid those who are sick.

- If you get sick stay at home and limit your contact with other people.

- You can not get the Swine Flu from eating or touching pork products

DWELLING BOX STRUCK

Saturday, November 28th - Around 18:30 hours as the volunteers were attending the Boroughs annual tree lighting ceremony, Camden County Communication struck a box for the unit blk of Chews Landing Rd. The calling party was reporting her neighbors porch was on fire. Sqaud 61 with 5 volunteers arrived with in minutes reporting the fire knocked down on the front porch. The Squad crew immediately moved forwarded overhauled the area and and began checking for extension. Command placed the fire a short time later. Squad 61 remained on location for about 45 minutes to assist the Fire Marshal with the investigation.   

APARTMENT BOX STRUCK

Tuesday, November 24th - Around 16:00 hours an apartment box was struck in our first due for the 800 blk of Brand Ave. The calling party was reporting smoke coming from the 1600 bldg. Police arrived about a minute later confirming the report of smoke showing from a middle of the garden apartment. Squad 61 (with 4 volunteers) arrived and split laid a line from Brand Ave to the front of the fire building & Squirt 63 picked up the split lay. Squad 61's knocked the fire with the can as Ladder 63 was setting up ventalation operations. Command placed the fire under control in about 5 minutes. All companies returned to service about 30 minutes later.  

SQUAD COMPANY CATCHES PIN JOB

Monday, November 23rd - Around 15:30 hours the company was dispatched to the White Horse Pk & Gibbsboro Rd. for a crash. Sqaud 61 responed with 5 volunteers & Sqaud 63 responed with 4. 6103 (AC Cipriano) arrived on location reporting a two vehicle accident with one pinned. Squad 61 arrived, immediately going to work stablizing, neutralizing the vehicle as the rest of the crews deployed the tools and began to extricate the patient. The extrication was completed in about 15 minutes. The squad companies returned to service around 16:15 hours.

SQUAD COMPANY RUNS TWO CRASHES 

Friday, November 13th - As the afternoon was dragging on shortly after 15:30 hours, Squad 61 was alerted for a crash @ the White Horse Pk & New Freedom Rd. The calling party was reporting a vehicle into a pole. The companies arrived to find a vehicle had taken down a traffic light standard. The companies secured the vehicle and perform fluid control returning to service about 20 minutes later. Later in the evening just about supper time the Squad was back on the street for another crash. This time at the intersection of the White Horse Pk & Trout Ave with one vehicle reported into the building. 6103 (AC Cipriano) arrived reporting one vehicle struck the building and another vehicle took down a light standard. Squad 61 responded understaffed with 3 volunteers. The squad company arrived neturalized the vehicles and performed fluid control. The squad company remained on location until the vehicles were removed. Sqaud 61 returned to service on about an hour.  

AN APARTMENT BOX IN OUR FIRST DUE

Saturday, October 24th - Around 00:45 hours a box was struck for the 100 blk of Blackwood Rd at the Pine Valley Court Apartments. The calling party was reported the bells were activated and the could smell something burning. Police arrived to find over cooking in the Lima building. 6101 (Chief Busch) arrived and reduced the assignment to one and one for ventilation operations. Squad 61 and Ladder 63 returned to service 20 minutes later.   

TWO TRUCK AND A BELLS RUN FOR THE DAY 

Thursday, October 22nd - Just as the volunteers were finishing up their lunch, a box was struck for the 400 blk of Gibbsboro Rd in Lindenwold for an apartment fire. The calling party was reporting they could see flames from an apartment in the adjacent complex. 6307 (Mote) arrived in the complex reporting nothing showing. The area was investegated with negative results and command placed the companies in-service. Later in the day around 17:30 hours another apartment box was struck in Lindenwold. This time in the 100 blk of Gibbsboro Rd. The calling party this time was reporting an air conditioner on fire. Police arrived reporting lite smoke showing. Ladder 63 arrived confirming the report and immediately began to secure the ac unit. Command reduced the assignment to one and one moments later. As the volunteers were restoring their equipment from the previous run, the company was alerted for bells in the unit blk of Fulton Ave. Ladder 61 responded with 5 volunteers. The truck arrived with nothing showing. The companies determined an accidental activation and the companies returned to service.  

TWO MORE FOR THE TOTALS

Tuesday, October 20th - Just after 15:00 hours Squad 61 responded to the 100 blk of the White Horse Pk. Squad 61 arrived to find a shopping cart on fire in the rear of the store. The Squad Company extinguished the fire and returned to serivce about 15 minutes later. ABout an hour and ahlf later the Squad was back on the street for a fuel spill in the unit blk of West Atlantic Ave. 6101 (Chief Busch) arrived in the area, reporting a home heating fuel truck had sprung a small leak in the fill hose. The Chief reduced the assignment to the Sqaud Company for a stand-by while the responsible party handled the clean-up. The Company returned to service about an hour later.  

APARTMENT BOX STRUCK IN OUR FIRST DUE 

Sunday, October 11th - At approximately 01:10 hours a Task Force 611 box was struck for the 700 block of Brand Ave. The calling party was reporting a fire on the balcony of the apartment building. Squad 61 responded with 5 volunteers. 6101 (Chief Busch) arrived, reporting a trash fire on the 1st floor balcony. Squad 61 arrived and lead off with the can. After a quick knock of the fire command reduced the assignment to Sqaud 61. The volunteers overhauled the area and returned to service. Later in the afternoon the comapny was back on the street for bells in the 200 block of the White Horse Pk. Squad & Ladder 61 responded with 7 volunteers. Squad 61 arrived to find a garden style apartment with the bells activated. The Sqaud determined a juvenile hooked the box and returned the assignment.

ANOTHER TWO RUN DAY

Wednesday, October 7th - The volunteers had an early start to their day, just after 01:30 hours they were dispatched to the Clementon Lake Plaza for an unknown type fire. Brush 61 arrived in the complex to find brush on fire in front of one of the stores. The same was extinguished and the Brush unit returned to service about 5 minutes later. Later in the afternoon the volunteers were sent to the unit block of Sitley Ave. for wires. Police arrived reporting no need for the fire department and the Squad was placed in service.  

TWO RUNS FOR THE DAY

Sunday, October 4th - Just after 08:30 hours the Squad was alerted for a crash @ Berlin Rd & Higgins Ave. Squad and Engine 61 responded with 7 volunteers. The calling party was reporting one vehicle hit a tree. Squad 61 arrived investigated and returned to service about 40 minutes later. Around 15:15 hours Sqaud 61 was sent to 22 Gibbsboro Rd @ the Wooster Towers for one stuck in the elevator. Squad & Engine 61 responded with 8 volunteers. Sqaud 61 arrived, confirmed one stuck in the elevator and immediately began making access to the elevator car. The company returned to service about an hour later.

STORM MAKES FOR BUSY MORNING

Friday, September 11th  The volunteers started the day with an early wake-up call. Shortly before 0600 hours as the area was being inundated with more rain, the Squad Company was dispacthed to the unit blk of Watson Blvd for wires. Squad 61 (w/3 volunteers) arrived in the area and found wires arcing in the trees. The Squad secured a pole number for ACE and returned to service because there was no immediate hazard to the public. Later in the morning the company was back on the street again for wires. This time in the unit blk of Naylor Ave. 6103 (AC CIpriano) arrived to find a large piece of tree that had come down on the power lines. The Squad and Chief stood-by to the arrival of ACE and returned to service about 25 minutes later. As the morning wore on, we were back on the street one more time. This time for bells in the 200 blk of the White Horse Pk @ the Clementon Norse Apts. Squad 61 (w/4 volunteers) arrived to find the bells off in the Charlie building. The Squad company investigated and determined equipment malfunction caused the activation and they returned to service 20 minutes later.

COMPANIES GO TO WORK

 Tuesday, September 8th - Just after 11:00 hours Communications struck a box for the 200 blk of Berlin Rd in our first due. The calling party was reporting flames from the roof of a church. 6101 (Chief Busch) arrived with in minutes reporting a fire eminating from the soffit area of the church. Squad 61 arrived, deployed a ground ladder and stretched a line attempting to reach the seat of the fire. Ladder 61 arrived nexted, forced entry and began searching for access to the fire. Crews from Ladder 61 and Squad 63 made access to the attic space from the interior, Ladder 62 from the exterior and with an aggressive can attack knocked the fire. The companies held the fire to the area of origin. About 20 minutes into the incident command placed the fire. Photos available @ www.newjerseyfire.com

TRUCK RUNS ANOTHER WATERFORD BOX

Thursday, August 13th - Just before 11:00 hours the Communication Center started receiving calls for a building fire in the 2100 blk of Tremont Ave in Waterford Twp. Do to the volume of calls Ladder 61 was added to the box. Ladder 61 took in the box with 5 volunteers. As the truck company was responding command reported the fire would now be probable and the ladder was returned to service.

WATERFORD GOES TO WORK

Friday, August 7th - Just as most of the volunteers were finishing up their day jobs Waterford Twp Fire Dept was dispatched to the 700 blk of Curry Ave for a dwelling fire. Reports were coming into the Communications Center of a working fire and Ladder 61 was added to the assignment. The truck headed east with 6 volunteers. As the company arrived on location they were re-directed to a cover at Station 23-2. The ladder returned to service around 19:15 hours.  

COMPANY RUNS A DWELLING BOX 

Wednesday, August 5th - Just after 07:00 hours a box was struck for the 200 blk of Van Horn Ave. The calling party was reporting the alarm activated and the laundry room was filling with smoke. 6103 (AC Cipriano) arrived with in minutes and established command. Squad 61 with 5 volunteers arrived next and began to search for the source of the smoke. The squad determined a malfunctioning appliance and command reduced the assignment to 1 & 1. The companies returned to service around 07:30 hours.

THREE RUNS FOR THE DAY

Sunday, August 2nd - With 14 runs in three days I guess the drought is finally over (pardon the pun). Shortly after 09:30 the volunters were alerted for a public assist in the unit blk of Gibbsboro Rd @ the Wooster Towers. Police arrived determining there was no need to the fire department and the company was placed in service. Later in the afternoon Squad 61 (w/4) was on the street for a CO detector activation in the 200 blk of Gibbsboro Rd. The Squad arrived metered the dwelling and could not find a reason for the acitvation. The Squad returned to service about twenty minutes later. Just after dinner the volunteers responded to the unit blk of Chews Landing Rd for bells. Squad 61 (w/5) & 6101 (Chief Busch) responded to the incident. 6101 arrived reporting nothing showing. The Squad checked the dwelling and determined an alarm malfunction, and command returned the company to service.
